Red to the Extremes
The Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts in collaboration with the Cultural Centre AKAMANTIS is organising, for the fifth consecutive year, the Group Exhibition for Young Cypriot artists. This year the artists are challenged to be inspired by the colour red and get us to extremes!
Red is Cupid and the Devil. It is Love and War. The red colour was always a colour of extremes: it signals love, passion, hatred, bloodshed, violence. Red is the warmest colour of all warm. It is a powerful colour that stimulates the mind and soul: studies have shown that red can have a physical effect on us, increasing the pace of our breathing and our blood pressure.
Some artists have dedicated their lives to the expressiveness of its transformations. In this exhibition, the young Cypriot artists paint their own passions and dreams and give us their own version in red.
Since 2007 Akamantis Cultural Centre has established through its group exhibitions an institution that showcases and promotes the work of young artists and in the recent years they promote charity as well. This year the Cultural Centre Akamantis will donate all net revenues from sales of works to the Paediatric Oncology Unit of Archbishop Makarios III Hospital.
Guests will have the opportunity to see around one hundred works by fifty artists.
Specifically take part in the Angela Kyriacou, Alexis Hadjicostas, Amalia Hajinikolaou Anthi Pafiou, Anna Alexandou, Anna Luca, Andri Christofides, Andria Tselepi, Vaso Thoupou, Yiannis Katsouris, Giorgios Achilleos, Eleana Chrysanthou, Elena, Iasonidou, Elena Chrysanthou, Eleni Volou, Eleni Theodoulou, Eleni Constantinou, Eleni Neofytidou, Elisa Pieri, Evanthia Bloufa, Ioli Livada, Irma Voulgari, Ioanna Voskou, Iosifina Pericleous, Kelly Norman, Kyriaki Ioannou, Kyriakos Thoukis, Manos Gallios, Maria Kofterou, Mariana Tillyrou, Minas Alexiou, Miriam McConan Papageorgiou, Myria Georgiou, Natalie Kyrou, Nicholas Ladommatos, Nicholas Polychronis, Ursula Stavrou, Panagiotis Vittis, Panagiotis Pasantas, Pavlos Mitsigiorkis, Polymnia Charalambous, Sophia Dimitriou, Sophia Sophocleous Stelios Ermogenidis, Stefanos Nearchou, Flora Mavrommati, Froso Andreou, Christina Christofi, Christos Avraam, Chrystalla Kyriacou.
