11th International Guitar Festival EGTA - 2016
European Guitar Teachers Association(EGTA) presents the 11th International Guitar Festival from the 6th to 8th of May at Avanti Culture Point (State Exhibition, Nicosia). Guest artist will be the guitarist Evgeni Finkelstein, Russia.
At the Festival will take place the Pancyprian Competition for Young Guitarists and masterclass by Evgeni Fingelstein.
Friday 6th of May, 8.30p.m: Concert by Evgeni Finkelstein
Saturday 7th of May, 10.00a.m. – 1.00p.m: Masterclass by Evgeni Finkelstein
Sunday 8th of May, 9.30a.m. – 4.00p.m: Competition for young guitarists (www.egta.org.cy/application.html)
Sunday 8th of May, 5.00p.m.: Closing Ceremony
The European Guitar Teachers Association - Cyprus is a non profit, non government, cultural organization, founded in September 2001. Members of the association are guitarists and guitar teachers from all Cyprus. Our main objective is the promotion and development of guitar in Cyprus. Other objectives include organization of cultural events, competitions, seminars, conferences about guitar and support of young talented guitarists by offering grants and by other means. EGTA Cyprus has successfully established an annual Guitar Festival in Cyprus and hopes to continue organizing the event with even greater success.
Evgeni Finkelstein is an outstanding Russian guitarist, prizewinner of international competitions, Professor of the Moscow State Classic Academy. Evgeni Finkelstein has extraordinary beauty of sound, subtlety and expressive power, the refinement of the repertoire. Evgeni Finkelstein performs solo concerts in the best concert halls of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Siberia, Urals, Far East, Austria, Germany, the UK and other cities of Russia and Europe. Evgeni Finkelstein performs with Yuri Bashmet and chamber ensemble "Soloists of Moscow". Evgeni Finkelstein was born in Moscow in 1972, he studied under outstanding Russian musicians: Alexander Frauchi, Camille Frauchi, Nikita Koshkin, Alexander Gitman. He is the prizewinner of the international competitions of classical guitar: 1995 – in Moscow, 1995 – "Guitar in Russia" (Voronezh), 1996 – "Printemps de la Guitare" (Belgium). Evgeni Finkelstein is a Professor, head of classical guitar Department of the State Classic Academy of Maimonides in Moscow. Evgeni Finkelstein published four CDs "Russian guitar music", "Sonata", "Lachrimae" and "Le Baroque". He also performs for the radio and television in Russia.
