11th International Pharos Chamber Music Festival
Growing steadily over the years, the International Pharos Chamber Music Festival is considered nowadays one of the most renowned festivals of its kind in the eastern-Mediterranean region. The Festival, which has established itself as the highlight of the Pharos Arts Foundation's Concert and Recital series, has achieved to make chamber music more accessible, with performances of the highest standard, stimulating programmes and affordable tickets. Guided by a visionary spirit and dedicated to artistic excellence and innovation, the Festival attracts over 2.000 visitors every year. The Festival maintains also a strong tradition of community service, with educational concerts organised for primary education students of the surrounding areas.
Now in its 11th year, the International Pharos Chamber Music Festival will open with a piano recital at The Shoe Factory in Nicosia with Paavali Jumppanen performing Beethoven Sonatas. It will continue with five exciting concerts in the magnificent Royal Manor House in Kouklia/Palaipaphos, one the finest surviving monuments of Frankish architecture on the island, and will feature some of the most celebrated musicians in the world, including the concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Daishin Kashimoto and the renowned flutist Emmanuel Pahud. There is some mouthwatering music to look forward to, including Mozart's Flute Quartet in D major, Arensky's String Quartet No. 2, and the string trio arrangement of Bach's Goldberg Variations. The Festival will conclude with another piano recital at The Shoe Factory with Philippe Cassard performing works by Liszt, Schubert and Debussy.
