14th International Children Folk dance Festival
Limassol Folklore Association, organizes this year the 14th International Children Folk dance Festival, which has been established as an institution in the cultural activities of our country. The festival will take place from Thursday 27th of June until 30th of June in Limassol, with the participation of more than 160 children from Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, Serbia and Cyprus.
The International Children Folk dance Festival was first held in 1993 and gives the opportunity to children from countries with different traditions and cultures come together and interact with each other.
During their stay in Cyprus, the children will be hosted from families in Limassol and they will also have the opportunity to visit and explore archeological places, historical and cultural places of the island.
All the performances start with a parade of all participants in the streets of the municipalities or communities and end up to the squares where they will be held.
In more detail, the Festival's program is as follows:
Opening Ceremony: Thursday, 27th of June 2019, Irini’s Square(Agios Athanasios Municipality)
Friday 28th of June 2019: Kyperounta village square
Saturday 29th of June 2019, Eptagonia village square
Closing Ceremony: Sunday 30th of June 2019, Limassol Old Port square
The Festival is under the auspices of the Minister of Education and Culture Mr. Costas Chambiaouris.
The festival is sponsored by the Cultural Services of Ministry of Education and Culture, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the Cyprus Tourism Organization, OPAP and Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation.
The event is also supported by the Holy Metropolis of Limassol, KEPAKY, TOP KINISIS tourist agency, Pefkos Hotel and OneServe audit office.
The performances are held in collaboration with the Limassol Municipality, Municipality of Agios Athanasios, Kyperounta’s Youth Center and Eptagoneia Community.
