Cyprus : 1st International Sea Festival Cyprus "Nautilus"

The Evagoras and Kathleen Lanitis Foundation organizes the First International Sea Festival Cyprus “Nautilus”

Molos, Medieval Castle Area, Evagoras Lanitis Centre

21 September – 30 October 2008

The Evagoras and Kathleen Lanitis Foundation organizes for the first time this year the First International Sea Festival Cyprus “Nautilus”, which is being held in cooperation with the Limassol Municipality.

The Festival consists mainly of cultural events with the blue colour of the sea as dominant theme. We shall find ourselves face to face with the superb world of the sea, the immense living area which the creators of ancient myths recognized as a cradle of life and great mother of the world.

The aim of the festival is to establish a long term institution within the framework of the country’s cultural policy which will operate as a platform where artists, scientists, researchers and other local and international figures will be able to meet and cooperate. It will also operate as a means of raising the public’s awareness of the importance of the sea, which has been a source of inspiration for the greatest civilizations on earth. A series of activities have been planned within the framework of the festival such as :

Molos
- The International photographic exhibition “Of the seas” with the participation of famous international photographers such as Yann Arthus Bertrand and from National Geographic Bobby Haas, James Stanfield and many others.
- Presentation of the Naval tradition of Cyprus, which will be hosted on a special structure . Along with this presentation, there will be evening projection of documentaries.
