34th Cyprus International Fair
The 34th Cyprus International Fair opens its gates on May 22nd and continues through to May 31st. It exhibits all sectors of business activities – sectors that relate to the home and design, machinery and technology, services both public and private, home equipment, electrical appliances and many more.
This year, more than 150 exhibitors will be showcasing the products and services of 1000 companies from Cyprus and 20 foreign countries. The official state participations are those of Greece, Romania, Spain, Syria and the United States of America.
The Bazaar will operate again this year at Pavilion 10 offering the public the opportunity to buy traditional and other products from various countries at low prices. For the first time, there will be a Bazaar with Cypriot products at Pavilion 7.
Even though worldwide the trend has seen general fairs - in contrast to specialised ones - loosing ground, the International Cyprus Fair continues to attract the largest number of visitors than any commercial event organized in Cyprus.
It is important to note that Pavilion 3, where the President of the Republic Mr Demetris Christofias will officially inaugurate the fair at 7.30 pm on May 22, has been upgraded and refurbished. As always Ministers, Deputies, members of the diplomatic corps, other officials and representatives of the productive classes will attend the opening.
After the opening and during the fair this same upgraded venue, Pavilion 3, will be used for various events. From Wednesday May 27 and until Sunday May 31 Pavilion 3 will host CYTOUR an exhibition on domestic tourism where visitors will have the opportunity to be informed about the various options for holidays in Cyprus and the very attractive packages and prices offered. The director general of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation Mrs Phoebe Katsouris, who I welcome here with us, will give you more details soon.
On the occasion of the Year of Astronomy, this year, Pavilion 7 will feature a mobile planetarium with three screenings a day, a photographic exhibition on the great space adventure, an exhibition of books on space, documentaries on the universe and an opportunity to observe the night sky with telescopes.
The exhibition BOYS STAFF will be staged at Pavilion 1 and will feature everything that a modern man may need such as the latest models of telephones, electrical equipment and luxury sports cars.
All visitors to the fair are welcome to all the above presentations at no extra charge.
The 34th International Fair will open to the public on the same day as the official opening at 6.00 pm on Friday, May 22 and will remain open until Sunday May 31 inclusive.
The Fair will be open from 6.00 pm until 11.00 pm on weekdays and Sundays and from 6.00 pm until midnight on Saturdays.
The entrance fee is €5.00. As every year, there will be a draw and a prize for the winning admission ticket. Entrance is free for children up to 12, for members of the Pancyprian Organisation of Large Member Families and for members of the Association of Five Member Families.
