3rd International Contemporary Music Festival
The mission of the Pharos International Contemporary Music Festival is to propagate the music of 20th and 21st centuries and showcase avant-garde compositions from all over the world. The Festival aims to provide a forum for composers and performers to advance and develop new projects and it has already been established as one of the most interesting and progressive annual events in Eastern Mediterranean.
Now in its third year, the Pharos International Contemporary Music Festival continues to diversify by presenting a number of exciting concerts, from 11 until 17 September 2011. Some of the finest contemporary ensembles in the world will join forces with 15 young, but internationally distinguished, composers from Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Finland, the UK, Russia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Canada and the USA. Each composer will write a newly-commissioned Trio that will be given its world-premiere during the 3rd International Contemporary Music Festival of Pharos. The Festival aspires to appeal to the Cyprus public, especially the youth, by offering quality but alternative concerts of contemporary music.
The 3rd International Contemporary Music Festival comprises 7 concerts & 2 educational activities:
