3rd Limassol International Children's Festival
The third annual Limassol International Children’s Festival will take place on September 27 at the Limassol Municipal Garden. The festival, aiming to promote a culture of tolerance and understanding among Limassol’s youth will see approximately 500 children of various nationalities and backgrounds take to the stage.
“We are now raising the EU generation, which interacts on a daily basis with thousands of foreign citizens in Limassol and Cyprus. We want to contribute to the development of a climate of mutual understanding in a Cyprus that is open other cultures, and establishes its position as an international commercial centre,” Andreas Christou Mayor of Limassol said in a press conference to announce the festival.
Children of a total of 27 nationalities, all of whom currently reside in Cyprus, will participate in the festival performing dance or music acts.
Visitors will also get a chance to participate in a variety of creative classes including mosaics-making, stone painting, crafts, pottery and papier-mâché. There will also be an exhibition with stalls by international schools and music and dance academies.
“The main idea behind the event is to familiarize our children with a variety of cultures, languages and traditions. Visitors will see how children of different nationalities can sing and dance together as art and creativity have no barriers. We believe that events like this help people understand each other better,” said Natalia Kardash, Festival Organiser.
