4th Avaton Music Festival
Avaton Music Festival is a unique event, combining educational and artistic approaches in live electronic and acoustic music. An international festival of contemporary and new music, over a three day weekend, it presents lectures, concerts, workshops and seminars.
Avaton is the first festival in Cyprus experimenting with merging technological developments and performing arts on the highest level towards understanding the art music of today. It aims to provide exclusive and unique artistic experiences to a broader audience; to be an international platform for new music and related contemporary art forms in Cyprus; to enthuse existing audiences and draw in new ones through adventurous programing and informed, stylish presentation and to be an active European cultural partner.
The festival aims to present and explain the constant changes in the post-modern music world. Seen through the prism of our society and individual artistic developments, it researches the questions of form and content, technological developments and its influence on classical acoustic music. It also aims to bring together local musicians and composers with their European colleagues in a mutual collaboration through commissioning new pieces, organizing and performing in mixed ensembles, collaboration and exchanges with other similar festivals throughout Europe. Avaton Music Festival had so far three successful editions hosting over thirty renowned composers and performers presenting numerous concerts and lectures.
