7th Strawberry Festival

The 7th Pancyprian Strawberry Festival celebrates the tradition of growing of some of the finest Strawberries in Derynia and visitors will be offered locally grown Strawberries (Sample pack free) and jam if supplies last.

There will be live music, entertainers, a spectacular fireworks display, lots of great food and super entertainment for all the family with many side stalls from all the various groups who are fundraising for good causes including sport, scouts and local schools etc.

One point to note, a Chevrolet Car is being given away that night at the event subject to buying a lottery ticket so do look out for sellers at the front entrance where a hexagon marquee will feature the car thats up for grabs - also a Plasma TV , DVD player and a microwave.

The event will be attended by Government Ministers, local dignitaries and many well know faces in the town and will be introduced and presented by the well know local TV stars Niki Antoniou and Christos Karaiskos.

The main stage will feature local poetry, some speeches, the band of the Cyprus Police Force, local Greek Dancers and then some spectacular entertainment by and orchestra of Greek musicians and 3 celebrity artists, of which Demitis Basis from Greece is the headline act.

The Derynia Municipality and the organising committee have put in a huge amount of work and effort so if you can make it, please do attend.

It's a great event, Cypriot hospitality at it best and a very local Famagusta District atmosphere to it with hundreds, yes hundreds or people helping to put it on from local scout groups to schools not to mention all the supporters and members of the Anagennisi Derynia which is the football and volley club.

So we hope to see many of you there and especially many of the faces we saw 2 years ago.
