The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Cyprus, the Limassol Municipality and ‘Vestnik Kipra’ Russian Newspaper organize the 8th Cyprus – Russian Festival on the 8th of June in Limassol Municipal Garden.
Every year up to 10,000 people come to celebrate the well-known friendship between Russia and Cyprus. Hundreds of actors, dancers and singers from both countries perform during non-stop 8-hour programme, and visitors can participate in and enjoy numerous events and activities. The Festival is opened by the President of Cyprus and attended by senior state officials.
Being held for the 8th consecutive year, Cyprus-Russian Festival now is not only great fun for people of different nationalities and ages, but also a well-established tradition. However, it keeps evolving, with new unique activities introduced every year. In 2012 they were the first ever Cyprus High-Heel Race, the Traditional Russian Village, the ‘Decorate Your Matrioshka’ painting competition. Proving their success, they are back this year.
The novelties of 8th Cyprus – Russian Festival are many, so those who attend regularly are not to be disappointed. Two major events are amazing historical restoration of traditional weddings – a Russian and a Cypriot one. A special wedding photo contest is being run online, and the winner will be awarded during the Festival.
Entertainment also includes fun for all the family such as the Festive Fair, exhibitions, contests, competitions, and many more. Almost 1,000 people perform on three stages: shows and concerts by Russian and Cypriot groups and organizations, followed by a Gala Concert and fireworks.
