[ “A Little Bit of Everything” is the title of Bojana Loizou’s solo exhibition at Opus 39 Gallery, a title which prepares the visitor for a wide variety of photographic work, not only in the subjects she photographs but the different techniques she employs.
Bojana’s photographic development was influenced by the style of FAMU, the Prague Academy of Performing Arts where she gained her BA in Still Photography, and by the University of Wales in Newport where she took her MFA in Documentary Photography. Her work covers a diversity of forms of the photographic art, including different techniques for capturing and processing light, the use of different kinds of camera, and different methods of printing, i.e. the traditional method of developing negatives by hand, darkroom printing (silver gelatine process), and digital printing. The range of themes and techniques, reflecting as they do different aspects of Bojana’s photographic life, afford the viewer aesthetic enjoyment enhanced by rich emotional content.
The photographs in the exhibition are accompanied by small texts or poems written by Bojana’s friends and artists. The result is unique, creating as it does a dialogue between images and words,
a synergy which opens up multiple ways in which to contemplate photographs.]
