Abstract Impressions by Eugene Tector
Opus 39 Gallery in collaboration with the Embassy of Belgium in Cyprus, cordially invites you to a painting exhibition by Eugene Tector. The exhibition will be opened by the Ambassador of Belgium Mr. Guy Sevrin, on Monday 8 October 2012, at 7.30 p.m.
Eugene Tector was born in 1943 in the Province of Limburg, a Belgian region in which many immigrants used to work in the coal mines. This socio-cultural background has afforded him a broad outlook on the world, making him a cosmopolitan. At the age of 20 he worked in Congo (Africa) for 2 years. Upon his return to Belgium, he began his studies in Psychology and Sexuology at the University of Leuven and started his professional career as a psychotherapist in Antwerp. When it comes to his artistic life, he is rather a late-developer. It was only in the 1980s that he started to follow regular courses in drawing, painting and art history, all at different art academies located in Antwerp. He also joined training courses and workshops in Anthroposophical painting given by Joyce Oey. In 1990 he had his first individual exhibition. From that moment on he regularly exposed his art work, individually as well as collectively, mainly in Belgium and Holland. He has also exhibited in Brazil, Taiwan, and Bulgaria. He opened his own gallery in 1994, where he has collaborated with a group of artists until now, continuously promoting the work of young artists. His focus shifted gradually from psychotherapeutical work to art: painting, teaching art and organizing art exhibitions.
