Achilleas Christou
Achilleas Christou presents his sixth solo exhibition of paintings at Gallery Kypriaki Gonia in Larnaca from 11 to 29 April 2014. Opening by the visual artist Evros Evriviades on Friday 11/4/2014 7.30 p.m.
Achilleas was born in Paris and studied art and photography. He also attended a School of Art and followed courses in the art of steel and metal constructions. He has had five solo exhibitions in Nicosia , Paphos and Larnaca and has taken part in many group exhibitions. His work is characterised by freshness and harmony and coordination of movement and shapes within explosions of bright colours.
Andreas Hadjithomas, among other things, has this to say:
“The work of Achilleas Christou have inner pathways that lead to his personal view of the world that surrounds him and through which he is struggling to correlate comprehensively and communicatively; they are characterised by sensitivity, the brightness of colour and the tandem dynamics developed therein.
Bold colours warm to express his personal feelings with regard to the environment but also to the atmosphere within which he himself wishes to move and create. Behind all this are personal quests, extensions and interpretations of the artists’ life as they are printed on his subconscious.
“Achilleas, in a plain style, with simple expressive means, manages to capture the interest immediately and to surprise with the boldness of colours. He succeeds in combining this boldness with sensitivity but also with the aesthetic identification of the image.
“He has succeeded in presenting a balanced form and content that results in a dynamic conclusion. He is an artist who moves within the meaning of a clear, colourful form and its operational extension in a world seeking his identity
“In general, Achilleas Christou’s work is an expression of a continuous search for the colour-figurative surfaces of a canvas that encompass mental and spiritual quests seeking to find a way out into the light. In interpreting the phenomenon of the struggle between quality and quantity, this artist proposes quality”.
