Aesthetic Migrant
KAT’OIKON Foundation proudly presents the art project “Aeshetic Migrant”.
The KATOIKON Foundation is a modern version of the renaissance Bottega, where three artists coming from differnt artististic disciplines; painting, theater and poetry, have used their long-term friendship and collaboration to come together and engage in a joint creation.
Aesthetic migration is a voluntary exile. It is a form of self-exile a person imposes on himself as a result of feeling that the lack of aesthetics around him is detrimental to his existence. It is yet another act of protest against the direction in which art is headed towards today. Having experienced the political depreciation and aesthetic degradation of our society in recent years, we have created a bottega, a space of our own because we feel Aesthetic migrants, a new category of migrants. It is a transcendence we are called upon to do, not only for ourselves but also for any creator who is trying to cope with the challenges of our time.
Aeshetic Migrant is a combination of an art project and a poetry collection. In this project, the artist's workplace is migrating to the exhibition venue itself. Lia Boyiatzi's art studio was relocated to the KAT’OIKON Foundation a year ago where she has been working on completing her new work.
Sotos Stavrakis’s second poetic work is called "Alteration". It refers to the three basic axes that act as catalysts in the spiritual evolution of man, that is, the relationship with ourselves, with others and with God. It is the recording of a spiritual journey.
Damianos Zisimou's first artistic proposal coalesces, degrades and reconsiders images and faces, stories and memories, both on a personal and collective level. It creates through the filter of painting new worlds for exploration, new selective narratives about who we are.
