The Afternoon of a Faun
The choreodrama The Afternoon of a Faun was inspired by the idea of showing the confrontation of two dimensions, two choices, two possible ways of life of the hero. There’s a way of life burdened by work, monotonous rhythm of everyday life, conflicts and urban dirt, and on the other hand, a way of life that dwells in an unreal world of reams, released from urban grayness. The main character is a bum (homeless person) who, yet by definition of his own choice, has given up the common life path, and will end up as a mythical character - the faun, who joins the nymphs.
During the choreodrama show scenes of real life alternate with scenes in which the main character rejects common and trivial everyday way of living with his own fantasies and dreams. Dream of the nymphs constantly returns to him, but in a different, modified form. All the time, he dwells between different possible aesthetic visions, two parallel realities - ugly and beautiful, until the very end, when he finds the resolution in love, and thus reaches the absolute of beauty.
The choreodrama is based on the Claude Debussy score and the musical compilation of various rhythms and sounds bring the atmosphere of today's time, compiled by Vladimir Ljubinkoviç.
