The Commandaria Orchestra under the direction of Francis Guy will present clarinetist George Georgiou in the world premiere of Artemis Aifotiti’s Concertino for Clarinet and String Orchestra.
The concert, which will take place at the Pallas Theatre on Thursday, 26 May will include Ravel’s Pavane pour infant defunte, Respighi’s much loved Ancient Airs and Dances and Grieg’s Holberg Suite.
The Commandaria Orchestra was established in 2009 by the Cyprus Wine Museum. The orchestra’s appellation refers directly to the origin and region of the sweet-wine of Cyprus. The primary aim is to disseminate both European and Cypriot musical culture directly connected to Greek history and mythology.
The organisers of the concert, CultureTones, Apollon International Connections and Commandaria Orchestra are also pleased to be assisting the Congenital Heart Defects Association, Achdac, one of the nominated charities.
