Alessandro Deljavan - Piano Recital
The Pharos Arts Foundation presents a recital with the sensational Alessandro Deljavan – a pianist embraced for his remarkable prowess and emotional intensity, who has been astonishing the audiences and music-critics alike for more than two decades. Deljavan gave his first public performance at the age of three and gained international recognition at the age of nine, when he won the First Prize at the prestigious Concours Musical de France in Paris. He has won top prizes in important competitions ever since, appeared with some of the world’s most renowned orchestras and developed a prolific discography of over 40 albums. For his first appearance in Cyprus on 15 February 2018, at The Shoe Factory in Nicosia, Alessandro Deljavan will show his inimitable artistry in a programme comprising Liszt’s Sonata in B minor and Chopin’s Piano Sonata No.2 and Mazurkas Op.17.

Embraced for his remarkable prowess and emotional intensity, superstar pianist Alessandro Deljavan has been astonishing the audiences and music-critics alike for more than two decades. Of an Italian and Persian descent, Deljavan began learning to play piano before the age of two and gave his first public performances at the age of three. Acknowledgements began at the age of nine when he had won the First Prize at the prestigious Concours Musical de France in Paris, in 1996. He has won top prizes in important competitions ever since, including, the Hummel Competition 2005 in Bratislava, the Gina Bachauer Young Artist Competition 2005, the Isangyun Competition 2010 in South Korea, and the Cliburn Competition in 2009 and 2013.
As a soloist, Alessandro Deljavan has performed with orchestras such as the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra of St. Petersburg, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in Texas, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Orchestra Sinfonica Leopolis and the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento in Italy, Israel Camerata Orchestra, Wu Han Philharmonic Orchestra in China, and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, among others. He has appeared at renowned festivals such as the Festival International Piano Classique de Biarritz, the Festival Chopin à Paris, the Piano Intime Series in Montpellier, Glafsfjordens musikfestival (Sweden), the Bologna Festival, Festival Piano Master (Gravedona), Orta Festival (Lago d’Orta) and Autunno Musicale in Como (Italy), Gradus International Piano Festival (Denmark), the Bogotà International Piano Festival in Colombia, and the Tippet Rise in Montana, USA. His chamber music partners have included the Takács Quartet, Quatuor Sine Nomine and the Brentano Quartet. Deljavan has toured extensively with the violinist Daniela Cammarano with whom he has recorded several albums for the Aevea, Brilliant Classics and Onclassical labels.
A prolific recording artist, Alessandro Deljavan has a discography of over 40 albums with the Stradivarius, Brilliant Classics, Onclassical, Aevea, Naxos, Tactus and Piano Classics labels. Recent releases include two albums of the complete Chopin Waltzes & Études (Brilliant Classics), the Complete Chopin Mazurkas (Aevea), the Complete Piano / String works of Taneyev (Aevea), the Complete Piano Works of Reynaldo Hahn (Aevea), the Complete Violin Sonatas of Edvard Grieg (Aevea), the Complete Works for Piano and Cello of Martucci (Tactus), Schumann Works for Piano (Academy / Artalinna), Bach: The Seven Toccatas (Piano Classics), and a double CD recording of works by Federico Mompou (Brilliant Classics). Later in 2018, Deljavan will release an album of Liszt Sonata and Mephisto Waltzes and the Bach Goldberg Variations, both recorded on the Horowitz-Istomin Steinway at Tippet Rise.
Deljavan graduated from the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Giuseppe Verdi in Milan and the Istituto Gaetano Braga in Teramo. He has also taken part in courses at the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Festival dell Nazioni at Città di Castello and the Ottorino Respighi, and between 2005 and 2013, he was among the selected young artists to attend the International Piano Academy at Lake Como, under the tutelage of the artistic director of the Academy, William Grant Naboré, who commented, “Alessandro is a complete artist with a technique ‘extraordinaire’, a marvelous and creative musicality and warm and communicative personality. He is truly a sensational pianist!”.
Alessandro Deljavan is currently professor of piano at the U. Giordano Conservatory of Music in Foggia, Italy.
