Andreas Karayan - Trip to Tunisia
In September 2010, Niki Marangou and I represented Cyprus at the International Art Festival in Monastir, Tunisia. I have always been fascinated by the watercolours of Klee and Macke from their trip, and so, I was given the opportunity to follow in their footsteps in a country where the islamic past thrives parallel to a modern western way of life. I created a series of watercolours from which the paintings for the exhibition were influenced. A short while after returning to Cyprus, the Revolution broke out!
The exhibition will be opened by Mrs. Marina Vryonidou-Yiangou,
Director of the Marfin Laiki Bank Cultural Centre, on Monday 21st November 2011 at 7.30 p.m.
During the exhibition opening there will be a presentation of Andreas Karayans new book.
