Andreas Michaelides
The opening of the exhibition of paintings by Andreas Michaelides will take place on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:30 pm, at the Peter's Gallery in Limassol.
The opening will be performed by the wife of the President of the Republic Mrs. Elsi Christofia.
Andreas Michaelides was born in Paphos in 1946. At high school he had the luck to have Andreas Charalambides as his teacher of art.
He made his first personal exhibition in Morphou in 1965 with 44 paintings. The exhibition was a great success and received many encouraging comments.
In 1966 Andreas married his wife Eleni and in 1967 they moved to South Africa where they remained until 2008 with their three children. In 1970 he had the good fortune to meet with the Cypriot sculptor Antis Hadjiadamou, who taught at the School of Fine Arts in Durban. Antis convinced Andreas to enroll in the School of Fine Arts and encouraged him to take part in art exhibitions.
After 42 years Andreas fulfills his dream of returning to Cyprus and the public of Limassol will have a chance to enjoy his paintings this May.
