The Angel in the Alcove
The Narrator, a young writer who lives in the French Quarter of New Orleans, rents an attic room in a boardinghouse owned by a ruthless and bitter old woman. The Narrator despises his shabby living conditions. Every evening as he is nearing sleep, an apparition of an angel appears in the attic. One evening, the Narrator receives a visitor.
The Angel in the Alcove chronicles Tennessee William’s experience as a boardinghouse tenant coming to terms with his sexuality.
