This new edition will also include lectures, tributes, exhibitions, children’s competition program, workshops and specialized masterclasses in new technologies.
Animafest Cyprus – Junior Edition will take place yearly in March in Nicosia. Its target audience is children and young people, as well as educators and parents who are interested in expanding their knowledge in the art of Animation.
Educational Program—Elementary School
The goal of this educational program is the cultivation of the children’s audience in Cyprus, as well as the introduction of educators to the art of animation. We will make use of our important existing collaborations with other international Animation festivals around the world for the exchange of film programs and for organizing educational workshops.
More specifically, in this year’s educational program there will be two morning workshops for children in elementary education, in which the students will have the opportunity to use animation techniques that are suitable for their age group. This workshop will help children communicate using a broad spectrum of visual messages, thus developing their creativity.
Specialized Masterclasses for professionals
Animafest Cyprus in collaboration with Graphic Stories Cyprus presents “Animated Stories”, a series of lectures, case studies and workshops, with the aim of promoting the visual arts, illustration and animation. This series will include workshops and seminars with experienced professionals such as screenwriters, artists, animators, educators, producers, directors etc.
More specifically, the two-day afternoon workshop for students and professionals (15-16 May) will include two different sections: 1. Character Design with Katerina Pandela and 2. 3D Modeling with Andreas Rossides. An exhibition of drawings from films by Cypriot artists who distinguished themselves in the last few years in Countryside Animafest Cyprus will be held in the same space as the workshop. For more information on the workshops check the official Festival webpage www.animafest.com.cy
