Anna Maria Maiolino
The Pharos Publishers are launching Order and Subjectivity, a catalogue documenting the work of Brazilian artist Anna Maria Maiolino and her exhibition, hosted at the Pharos Centre for Contemporary Art in October 2007.
Anna Maria Maiolino’s work is considered a key milestone in the development of late 20th century art in Brazil and Latin America. Maiolino has subsequently received international recognition as a key figure in contemporary art. Over a career that spans almost 50 years, the artist has continuously re-appraised her production, initiating new lines of enquiry, often accompanied by the use of new media. Anna Maria Maiolino has held various solo shows. Her numerous participations in group exhibitions include the XXI National Salon of Modern Art in 1971, Mitos Vadios, organised by Hélio Oiticica and Ivald Granato in 1978 and the XXIV Bienal de São Paulo in 1998.
