Antigone & Stones
On October 3rd at the Melina Mercouri Theater in Nicosia, you will have the opportunity to watch two performances by the Antidote Theater with a single ticket (or to choose only one).
At 6pm you can watch the STONES, a true story written by Tom Lycos and Stefo Nantsou.
In June 1994, two boys in Melbourne were charged with Manslaughter. They were bored so they were throwing stones off a freeway overpass, one of which went through the windscreen of a car, killing the driver, a professor at The Medical School.
Our Production is a story of competitiveness, recklessness, crime and punishment, for the purpose of thought, debate and drama. A fantastic piece of highly skilled acting and high-energy physical theatre for teenagers...which poses a huge question: Are the two boys killers? Or not? Who is really guilty?
Director: Xenakis Kyriakides
Set design: Matthew Beger
Cast: Korina Kontaxaki, Andrei Krupa
At 8:30pm you can watch ANTIGONE, the latest production of Antidote Theater based the classic Sophocles tragedy.
The goal was to ‘re-write’ and adapt the text so the myth of Antigone could be seen clearer through the eyes of teenagers. Two teenagers in love come face to face with authority (parents, school, society, government) and are forced to renegotiate their relationships and their relation to society.
Adapted and directed by Xenakis Kyriakides. The parts of Antigone and Eamon were played by Korina Kontaxaki and Andrei Krupa. Choreography was created by Anastasia Evaggelidou. Set, costumes and projections by Catherine Beger. Sounds and lights by Spyros Spyrou and Plamen Topalof.
