Antonis Tziarrides - Storybox

Antonis Tziarrides presents his First solo exhibition of paintings with the title “Storybox” at Gallery Kypriaki Gonia from 6 to 19 March 2013.

Antonis Tziarrides was born in 1980 in Larnaka, where he still lives and works. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. He has participated in various group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad. He is one of the two artists who established the ''SpyrA team''. This is his first solo exhibition.

Antonis Tziarrides in his first solo exhibition endeavours to overcome the present time and instigates a transformation of memories. In doing so, he employs on fairytales having references and suggestions on social history, surrealism and a personal romanticism. Exploring myths - such as the one of Ariadnis - unfolds together with the viewer, the thread which takes the artist and the observer into the world of memories.

These memories, past images, literally woven with thread to denote old and new stories of people, are the device to function in parallel levels. Persons who operate without-faces figures, even if they subvert the meaning of existence, mesmerize the viewer with their distinctive character (modern Minotaur, figures on canvas) with result the familiar to convert to metaphysical.

The inauguration will be performed by the Mayor of Larnaca, Mr. Andreas Louroudjiatis on Friday, 6 March at 7.30 p.m
