Apple Hill String Quartet
We are delighted to announce that the Apple Hill String Quartet will be in Cyprus as part of their annual Playing for Peace™ tour in the Middle East, between 8 – 14 November 2011 and will perform 2 concerts (Nicosia and Limassol), as well as give master-classes and chamber music workshops.
The Playing for Peace™ is an innovative program founded in 1988 where Apple Hill String Quartet travels around the globe, giving workshops and seminars in order to coach participants in the skills of chamber music playing. The project concludes with the Apple Hill String Quartet and the workshop participating students performing in a public concert. At the end of the residency, Apple Hill awards scholarships to students to study at Apple Hill Summer Festival in New Hampshire (USA), where they work with distinguish faculty for an extended period of time (generally one month) and the experience culminates with a public performance.
The 2011 Cyprus tour is organised in collaboration with the US Embassy and Cyprus Music Schools (Nicosia and Limassol), under the supervision of Mrs Andri Hadjigeogiou, Inspector of the Music Schools of the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture. The concerts are being oganised by the newly founded non profit organisation CultureTones Org. and the tour coordination is undertaken by DueCapi Artistic Management Agency.
