Painting Exhibition by Argentina Virginia Kakogiannis
Gloria Gallery presents the first solo exhibition of Argentina Virginia Kakogiannis. The exhibition will be opened by Mr Adonis Yiangou, Vice President of the Cyprus Green Party on Tuesday the 9th of June 2015 at 7.30 p.m.
Argentina Virginia Kakogiannis was born at Corbu, a small village by the Black Sea in Romania. She grew up next to nature learning to live by it, equipping her with useful knowledge.
Coming to Cyprus, where she made her family, she started to paint and draw in her effort to transform into pictures her emotions of love and care of her people. Following a few self-creative years, she decided to attend, for a short period, art classes at the Nicholas Panayi Art Studio in Nicosia, where she participated at the Studio’s group exhibition.
Through her love for nature she began to create paintings, mainly exploiting the tree. Travelling often all around Cyprus, seeking places of nature, far away from the city’s noise, she ended up into the creation of a collection about the pine tree.
The collection, named Pitis, includes pastel paintings, which depict moments from the lives of the pine trees, approaching their relationship with their surrounding environment as well as their relationship with the humans.
The point of view chosen for each painting is attempting to transfer the sounds and smells of the forest, the light, the creation of nature. The colors and the shapes transmit the power and energy of the trees, which are so essential to us people especially during our time.
The exhibition opens on the 9th of June and will remain open until Saturday the 20th of June.
