Asteris Gkekas - The Last Bride

Exhibition & poetry reading on Thursday 21 March 2013 at 19:30 at the ARTos Foundation.

A personal anthology of 69 women poets of Cyprus whose verses inspired Asteris Gkekas towards a heretic iconology of female Cypriot poetry. An expression of thanks to the Cypriot woman poet for the sentimental breathe and memory of the present and future in an attempt of honour.

Asteris Gkekas says: How would I pin a gold medal of honour on the water gown of the woman poet, upon a garment made of oceans and tears? Trying to bring forth an image stemming from this whole body of work is like trying to trap a wave with a fishing hook. This is a colorful reference to the pillars of cypriot poetry through the thick fog of today.
On the evening of the opening a poetry reading will take place with a special mention of Niki Marangou.
