Breathing (Atmen)
19-year-old Roman Kogler has a chance at early release from a youth detention centre. However, the odds seem against him. He is an uncommunicative and solitary character without a family and doesn’t seem fit for re-socialization. As a day-release prisoner he works at a funeral home. Of all things, it is this job dealing with death that shows him the path back to life.
Karl Markovics (screenwriter and director) was awarded in the renowned Directors’ Fortnight selection with the "Label Europa Cinema" at the 64th Festival de Cannes 2011, for his debut film BREATHING. The film has also received 26 International Awards and the Austrian Film Award 2012 in 6 categories.
