Award Ceremony for the Literary Competition for Children & Presentation of the Book
Children’s and Young Adult Literature Awards for 2017 presented by the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and the Association of Children’s and Young Adult Books
A book addressed to children and young adults may be set in the present, the past or the future. It may be a tender, nostalgic or instructive story. It may feature children, animals, wizards, dragons or elements of nature as protagonists. It can move us, surprise us, entertain or intrigue us.
Books written for children and young adults are those books that can awaken readers at a formative stage in their lives to either give in the magic of reading or reject the option of books. It is therefore our obligation as adults not to impose books on children but simply to make the introduction!
For the past 40 years the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation has embraced the initiative of the Association of Children’s and Young Adult Books, supporting its endeavours to recommend books that young readers are likely to love.
The presentation of the awards will take place on Monday 30 April followed by the launch of “Is the Dodo alive?”, the winning book for 2014.
Maria Pieri Stasinou, author of the book, will be a guest at the award ceremony. Her book has been illustrated and published with the support of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation.
