Ayia Napa Flood Festival 2010 (Kataklysmos)
Kataklysmos (Flood Festival) is a feast celebrated only in Cyprus. By the word Kataklysmos reference is made to the biblical flood by which God destroyed all living creatures on earth. Reference is also made to the ancient Greek tradition and to the Greek myth of Deukalion and Pyrra. In both cases all humanity is extinguished apart from a faithful couple, due to sin, and more moral, new generation of man is recreated.
This year Ayia Napa celebrates Kataklysmos with a three-day festival which boasts the concert by Glykeria, Melina Aslanidou and George Lianos on May 23 at 21:30. Other events include traditional dances, music and poetry, as well as Cypriot bands.
