Bence Bogányi & Miwa Hoyano

Cyprus : Bence Bogányi & Miwa Hoyano

The Pharos Arts Foundation presents a recital with Bence Bogányi – one of the most sought-after bassoonists of our time, and pianist Miwa Hoyano – first prize winner of the Ibla Grand Prize Competition. The recital, which will take place on Wednesday 15 April, at The Shoe Factory, will present a rich and varied programme – including works spanning from JS. Bach to Bartók, Saint-Saëns to Dubois and Orbán. This is indeed a rare opportunity to enjoy the bassoon as the leading force in chamber music!

THE PROGRAMME
Throughout history, the bassoon has represented a unifying force. Its sound is rich in harmonic overtones which, added to its accommodating timbre, makes this instrument ideal for tonal blends in any type of ensemble. Nowadays the bassoon is used extensively in the symphony orchestra and opera, with innumerable composers having written for it, and the repertoire includes impressive parts in orchestral scores, woodwind ensemble music and many bassoon solo concertos.

J.S.Bach: Preludium in C major for bassoon and piano
Bartók: Rumanian Dances for bassoon and piano
Ravel: La Valse for piano
Saint-Saëns: Sonata for bassoon and piano
------Interval-----
Dubois: Tango Sonatina for bassoon and piano
Kovács: Moldavia for bassoon solo
Ichyianagi: Cloud Atlas for piano solo
Sáry: Grandmother’s dance for bassoon solo
Chopin: Ballade for piano No.4, in F-minor
Orbán: Sonata for bassoon and piano
