Berlin Alexanderplatz
“Berlin Alexanderplatz” based on the monumental novel by German writer Alfred Döblin from 1929 is still today Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s mega film project, that he realized in only one year (1979/80) as a 14 episodes film series with more than 15 hours length. Fassbinder, in the Seventies Germany’s most famous and productive post war film director (1945-82) produced “Berlin – Alexanderplatz” with more than 100 actors and 3000 extras, spending altogether 13 Million Deutsch Marks, which made this film project the most ambitious, biggest and most expensive of German Public Television so far.
In 2007, on the occasion of Fassbinder’s 25th death anniversary, the films were all digitally remastered and since then presented to enthusiastic audiences worldwide.
We will show all 14 episodes of this Mega film in May and June every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7.00 pm in our hall in the German original version with Greek subtitles.
8th May until 6th June 2013 every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
