Blood Red Roses
theYard.Residency.18 will be completed this year with the performance Blood Red Roses of the theatre group Ice Cream Van. The performance is in the category Premiere where Centre of Performing Arts MITOS acts as a co-producer.
“A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses (...) control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude.” Aldous Huxley
Blood Red Roses (or the way you make me feel) is a devised theatre piece exploring the evolution of dictatorships. It is a collection of dark yet funny short stories, inspired solely by the present day and us in it. Whilst we witness the unquestionable rise of political fascism in the world, could it be that we all are, already, part of a new kind of dictatorship? And we just love it too much to notice?
