Born as Women
An audio-visual tribute to the great performers and divas of the Rembetico genre, on Wednesday 26 September 2018 at 8.00 pm at the Pavlos Jesus Park in Makedonitissa.
With a vast repertoire of rembetica songs, to songs of Smyrna and folk songs such as: 'Manaki', 'Ti Se Meli Esenane', 'Cafe Aman', 'Canarini mou Glyco', 'Demetroulla', 'To Pegnidi tou Americanou', 'Antra Thelo Ego na Paro','Koutsavaki', and others.

Invite us on a journey to trace the steps of Roza Eskenazi, Marika Papagkika, Rita Ambatzi and Marika Politissa and wonder through the streets of Piraeus, the markets of Salonica and the drinking houses of Constantinople.
The group 'Rembetiki FaTrias' devoted in their efforts to represent, deliver and reflect, want to transfer us to a time before the occupation of Greece through a two hour show. During this time women had to suppress their sexuality and were trapped within ethical dilemmas that had nothing to do with their personal moral compass. During the 30's, in the age of 'Rembetico' the women, 'rembetisses', had an entitled sense of freedom stemming from their rebellious nature.The repertoire is taken straight from the songs and unique voices of these legendary women from ‘Rembetico’ that continue to inspire and emit courage till today.
