Bridges between the past and the future
The lecture endeavours to present the role of the collector and the putting together of collections. What are the basic requirements and the criteria determining what we call a “Collection”? What are the responsibilities of a collector and what is the importance of promoting the cultural product and cultural heritage? The lecture will make references to the significance of evaluating, displaying as well as maintaining collections.
The “Collectors” series aims to present and promote the Cyprological Collections kept by the Foundation, as they constitute one of the most significant and largest pieces from the island’s cultural heritage, as well as to highlight Private Collections that reflect important though unknown aspects of Cypriot history and culture. The aim is to cultivate and enhance love for collecting amongst interested parties and the public and to convey the basic principles that will contribute to both the creation and preservation of our civilization.
