Bright Sounds and Reflective Sounds
With his ballet Farewell, the Cypriot composer Savvas Savva pays tribute to the hero Grigoris Afxentiou. One of the most beloved trumpet concertos to public, critics and soloists alike is the brilliant and virtuosic masterpiece by contemporary Armenian composer Alexander Arutunian. Its unrestrained rhythmic energy and the characteristic colours of its melodic lines, elements of Armenian folk music, will certainly dazzle music lovers. Brahms’s 2nd Symphony is often compared to Beethoven’s “Pastoral” for its prevalent tranquility, joy, optimism and high spirits.
