Building Images
6x6 Centre for Photography in collaboration with Arcaid Images is hosting the internationally acclaimed Architectural Photography exhibition ‘BUILDING IMAGES’, the Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards 2014.
Building Images, an exhibition of the best architectural photography worldwide, will open on Friday, the 27th February 2015 at 7p.m. at 6x6 Centre for Photography in Limassol and will remain open until the 21stst March 2015.
The Arcaid Images Architectural Photographer of the year Award highlights the expertise of the specialist architectural photographer, translating the sophistication of architecture into a readable and understandable two dimensions, to explain and extol the character, detail and environment of the project. The shortlisted photographs for the Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards 2014 were announced at the World Architecture Festival in Singapore, last October.
A highly acclaimed panel consisting of photographers, architects, designers and publishers judged the awards. Each judge was asked to look beyond the architecture itself, considering the photographers’ merits, composition, sense of place, atmosphere and use of scale.
The projects captured, were designed by world acclaimed architects such as, Zaha Hadid, Alvaro Siza Vieira, B720 Arquitectura, Bjarke Ingels & JDS Architects and others.
The awards were judged at the World Architecture Festival and the overall winner was Hufton + Crow for Zaha Hadid’s, Heydar Aliyev Centre in Azerbaijan. The awards are supported by Sto and the World Architecture Festival. This is the first time that they are being presented in Cyprus, in an exhibition featuring the finalists.
Each year 2,000 senior decision making architects designers, clients and press meet at the World Architecture Festival. It is the world’s largest architectural festival and live awards dedicated to celebrating, and sharing architectural excellence from across the globe. The 2015 Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards will open for entries on April 1st, 2015.
