Chamber Music Concert
With musicians of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra
The four contributors to these two concerts take us on a roller-coaster ride of instrumental showpieces from both the 20th century and late Romantic schools, ranging from the tango music of Argentine composer Lito Vitale, to Serge Koussevitzky’s Double Bass Concerto (a ripe example of Russian Romanticism), and from there to the avant-garde work Rebonds b of composer and architect-engineer Iannis Xenakis, back to 1874 and an arrangement of Saint-Saens’ Dance Macabre, and Manuel de Falla’s Spanish Dance no.1 from opera La Vida Breve. All these and Astor Piazzolla’s Night Club 1960 with the composer’s possibly most well-known work, his Libertango wrapping up what promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable musical evening!
