Chamber Music Evening
A chamber music evening devoted to Russian composers will take place at Technopolis 20, on Friday, 1st of Novemebr 2019, at 8pm, with Klio Karpasiti (violin), Anastasia Sokolova (piano) and Robertas Grod (cello). The programme will include works by R. Gliere, N. Myaskovsky, S. Rachmaninoff and I. Stravinsky.

A few words about the musicians
Anastasia Sokolova graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 2010 where she studied in the class of Professor Olga Zhukova. She began working as a concertmaster in 2006 in violin, viola and cello classes of famous Russian professors at the college and at the conservatory and got an extraordinary professional experience there. During her musical career Anastasia received a lot of awards as a "best concertmaster" in very important international festivals, academies and competitions, such as Sviatoslav Richter summer school, Yuri Bashmet winter academy, XV international Tchaikovsky competition and many others. Due to her unique musical universality and extremely high professional level she has a very active concert schedule as a concertmaster and as a chamber musician, being one of the most demanded pianist of her generation today.
Cleo Karpasiti was born in Cyprus. She is a student of the Musical Talent Development Programme of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth of Cyprus in the Violin Class of Mr M. Menelaou. The Programme, established in October 2006, aims at identifying children who are very talented in music and providing them with instruction on their instruments at the highest possible level. The Programme operates under the supervision and guidance of the distinguished violinist, Professor Matheos Kariolou. He is the artistic director of the Programme and works intensively with the children of the Programme, among them, Cleo. Cleo has participated as an active member in international violin master classes including a master class with Leonidas Kavakos in Athens, Greece. She has performed in many concerts in Cyprus and abroad as a soloist or as a member of the ensemble Cyprus Young Strings Soloists, a group of highly talented children who have been selected within the framework of the Programme’s operation. At the age of 11, she performed with the Bacau Symphony Orchestra of Romania. At the age of 13, she performed as a soloist with the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland for the celebration of its 70th anniversary. Cleo is the concert master of Cyprus Young Strings Soloists ensemble since its establishment. This ensemble has already gained international recognition performing in big capitals (Brussels-Royal Conservatory of Brussels/European Parliament, Vienna-Musikverein, Moscow-Spivakov Festival/Lomonosov, Rome-Quirinale Presidential Palace, Monza, the Vatican City, Strasburg-European Parliament), before big audiences, receiving excellent comments by famous personalities of music, religion and politics. All those concerts were organized on very important occasions for the Republic of Cyprus such as the Cyprus Presidency of the European Union (2012) and the 50th Anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus (2010). Cyprus Young Strings Soloists had also the unique opportunity to perform for His Holiness Pope Benedict IVI on the occasion of his Apostolic Journey to Cyprus in 2010. In 2015, the ensemble had the prestigious opportunity to perform with the legends of Music, Ivry Gitlis and Martha Argerich in their common Festival “Muses” and since then they have become the Honorary Mentors of the Musical Talent Development Programme.
Robertas Grod was born in 1991 in Lithuania, studied in Vilnius Balys Dvarionas music school (class of J. Veiverienė). He is laureate prize winner of national competitions (B. Dvarionas, J. Urba). Since 2010 Robertas has been studying at Moscow State Conservatory (class of Prof. N. Shakhovskaya). In 2012 he won the 1st prize at Kozolupov competition in Moscow. In 2016 he graduated the conservatory with honours. Regularly gives concerts in Cyprus and Lithuania. Since then he lives Cyprus and works in a special programme for children CYSS.
