The Cherry Orchard
Russian Theatre Screenings
The Cherry Orchard of Anton Chekhov by the Moscow Art Theater.
Is not it silly not to accept a reasonable offer to cut down an orchard, build a house, get rich and live according to the changing times? The Director Adolf Shapiro takes the view that the longer we live, the more we realize that it is indeed silly; silly impractical and senseless. This production, with Renata Litvinova, Andrei Smolyakov, Nikolai Chindyaykin et al, shows us the absurd, fragile beauty of senseless impracticality.
