Workshop: Children's Cancer - challenges & empowerment

The Pafos Youth Information Centre of the Youth Board of Cyprus in collaboration with Demetra Socratous organise the workshop 'Children's cancer: challenges and empowerment' on Monday 4th November 2019 at 16:00-19:00 at the Pafos Youth Multicentre & Youth Information Centre.

The Workshop is based on Demetra Socratous' children book "Mary and the White Pea" and promotes participants to:
a) initiate themselves in young cancer patients' experience, needs, realities and challenges
b) to represent physically abstract notions and complex meaning through drama strategies in order to build, re-build and powerfully interpret ideas, thoughts and emotions
c) to develop their empathy, their emotional awareness and expression and their emotional resilience
d) to empower themselves in order to deal with cancer issues and other life challenges

The workshop is addressed to Primary and Secondary Education teachers, psychologists, parents and other people interested in the topic of cancer (age: +18).

Demetra Socratous (teacher, drama pedagogist, children's writer) is coordinating and facilitating the workshop.

Participation is FREE - reservation is required (limited number of participants).

Participants are invited to wear comfortable cloths/ shoes and be at the workshop's space at 15:45 latest. No prior theatre experience is required.
