Christoforos Savva
Gallery K is proud to present a solo exhibition of works by Christoforos Savva (1924-1968). The exhibition will be inaugurated by the first lady of Cyprus, Mrs Elsi Christofias on Tuesday the 16th of March at 7.30pm. The exhibition is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Culture and is part of the government’s organised events, held in celebration of 50 years since the establishment of The Republic of Cyprus in 1960.
The exhibition will be unveiling rare work not seen in a public exhibition since the artist was alive. Savva is considered to have played an invaluable role in the development of modern art in Cyprus. The exhibition will include oils, gouaches, mixed media, drawings, a textile appliqué and relief sculptures. The works come from private collections in the UK, Spain, France, Greece and Cyprus.
A publication will accompany the exhibition that includes an introduction by art historian Dr Antonis Danos.
