Christos Christou

Cyprus : Christos Christou

The new work of Christos Christou is presented at the Kypriaki Gonia Gallery from December 7, 2012 till January 7, 2013. The exhibition will be opened by the president of the House of Representatives Mr. Yiannakis Omirou on Friday 7 December 2012 at 7.00 p.m.

Christos was born in 1950, Paphos. Upon finishing his High School studies he left for Paris to study painting, sculpture and lithography.

Since then he resides there but he never neglects to spend time in Paphos.

Andreas Xadjithomas comments on the artiste’s work:
“His work reflect technique but also on a pure communicable aesthetic way of expression. The creator remolds the material into idea and the idea into an aesthetic pleasure. His entire creation forms from a nucleus which spreads to different directions , each of them leads to questioning, revising of many irregular situations, to the values of life and finally to the substantial aim which is the human perfection of the individual.

The artist though an intuitive mind, a refined way of expression, creates his own world based on transcendental and supernatural elements which creates a variety of consistencies and deep mental situations.

His work reflects a clear traditional, classic and Byzantine clement without eliminating elements of other historical places and civilized countries. The light , the movement, the scheme, the shape in combination with the artist’s thought creates a lyric and poetic world which touches the sensitive heartstrings of the viewer, who will spend considerable time admiring it. A magnetic energy withhold the eye, allowing to go deeply into the parameters and details of the work which includes details elaborated with perfection and rare mastery .

Each work has it’s own characteristic, it’s own time and it’s own mystic world Each work as a whole, has it’s own effect and am contribution to the sum. All these compose the artistic vision of the creator, creating the personality of a man who transforms reality with consistency and completeness. One of the main characteristics of his work is the simplicity based on a dynamic combination of colors and a strong contrast

Looking at Chistos’s work the viewer is carried along with him to an imaginable world following the mind’s eye paths he never stepped, unlocks doors that reveal the human inclinations in space and time towards the aesthetic glory of spirit”.
