Classical Guitar Concert
Classical Guitar Concert by two talented, and skilled guitarists Yiannis Giagourtas and Alexis Melas. They will present a program including, among others, works of famous composers such as J. Rodrigo, A, Barrios, R. Dyens.
Yannis Giagourtas will perform a programme variety in style and dynamic containing famous virtuosic and lyrical pieces of the guitar repertoire.
He will begin with a very lyrical and melancholic piece, the second movement of Sonatina Americana (flamingos) by the famous Greek guitar player and composer K. Tzortzinakis (1950-1989).
The following pieces, Introduction and Caprice by G. Regondi op 23 (1822- 1872) and Tres Piezas Espanolas by J.Rodrigo (1901-1999) are one of the most difficult pieces in the guitar repertoire.
The virtuosity and the sensitive interpretation of the Greek performer, reveal the beauty and the depth of each piece.
The programme will end with three pieces from the Epitaph ( My perfumed lips, A day in May, You have set my star) by the legendary Greek composer M. Theodorakis.
Alexis Melas will perform well-known pieces of famous guitarists and composers like A, Barrios, R. Dyens, as well as his own work.
The programme will begin with his own piece “ small introduction” and he will continue his programme with the piece "The tremolo" which is his own composition with tremolo technique.
He will then perform the third part (allegro solemne) of the “La Catedral”, a virtuosic work of a Paraguayan composer named A. Barios, based on an experience he had entering the Cathedral of San José in Montevideo. The two following pieces are his own compositions in a modern style, titled “Pending and agony" and "victory of hope" inspired by emotions arising by life experiences, which are reflected at the two pieces.
Next he will perform “Tango en sky” a favorite, well-known piece of an excellent modern French composer R. Dyens which is a piece in Tango Style.
He will then perform another one of his own compositions called “All in One”, which is piece with Spanish color, fast scales, flamenco techniques.
The program will end with the third part ( Fuoco) of the impressive piece called “Libra sonatine”. A piece by R. Dyens composed after he suffered a heart attack
The proceeds of the concert will reinforce the Fund of the Centre of Preventative Pediatrics
