The Colourful Story of Frida K.
A play about the adventure of human existence, inspired by Frida Kahlo’s life stories and interactions.
We are nothing more than vectors - construction and deconstruction to be alive - Frida Kahlo
What’s common between Frida Kahlo and Theresa May? Would she ever imagine herself at a London Art Museum, more than 60 years after her death? Is art life and is life art? Can art abolish time? What if we could relive everything that has defined us? Can the arts change the world? How much art or rather – how much life – can we endure?
Just before we welcome 2019, Frida Kahlo is celebrated in London in an large exhibition featuring her personal objects and works. The frenzy that the artist with the Mexican scintillating temperament has generated has spread around the world.
Meanwhile, a Psychology student is struggling to finish her final-year dissertation, but, first, she has to solve the puzzle that her personal life has become. What happens when the lights go out and anxious spirits come out from the picture frames?
In a crazy posthumous feast with Death, Frida breaks away from her plaster corset, lights up a cigarette, drinks tequila, escapes again from the painted O at the window of her childhood bedroom and unfolds her long life with humor, fear, pain and passion. Wanting like mad to shout ... "LIVE"!
A performance based on music, speech, and image, along a journey full of surrealism through time, present and sub-consciousness, for the modern human who today is haunted, as ever before, by the shadow of loneliness, neglecting the collective aspect of his existence.
An exciting journey that brings humans against their greatest fear: themselves.
