Connect Annual Exhibition

Cyprus : Connect Annual Exhibition

The artistic intervention Connect, amidst the old typographic machines on the ground floor of Politis Newspaper, has been developed by the students of the Art and Design Society of the University of Nicosia and centers on the idea of connecting. In the current digital landscape of everyday reality this exhibition explores how we can “connect” with reality, with other people, with ourselves, with the past, with nature and with different social groups.

The exhibition has evolved through a focus on how socially engaged practice in art and design can trigger reflection on current social issues and communicate positive social change. Socially engaged practice in art and design is an evolving area in which artists and designers engage with political and social issues and provoke community participation. Arts and design practices that are involved in social change influence the community as their aim is to inform and create awareness in relation to current pressing social issues through creative investigations.
The Connect exhibition presents posters, collages, photographs, motion graphics pieces and installations which allow us to wonder how we form connections and social environments at the present moment.
