Cyprus : From the lights of New York...

The baritone Constantinos Yiannoudis returns to his home from New York for a recital that includes arias and songs by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Hoiby, Williams, Theodorakis, Hadjidakis, Markopoulos Iacovidis and others. His rich voice, theatrical appearance and radiance have brought him to the apex of the operatic happenings in America. He has had leading parts in over 400 productions of operas and theatre in theatres such as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall of the Lincoln Center in New York.

Praised for "a fascinating combination of charm and menace," (Courier Times, Pennsylvania), "a creamy, noble sound," (The Register-Guard, Oregon), and "an exceptional voice," (Sarasota Herald Tribune, Florida), Greek Cypriot baritone Constantinos Yiannoudes maintains an active performance schedule in both opera and concert.

Past seasons have found him at San Francisco Opera covering Germont in La traviata; Sarasota Opera for the Count in Le nozze di Figaro; Eugene Opera for Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Germont; Boheme Opera of New Jersey in the title roles of Rigoletto, Don Giovanni and Il Barbiere; Mississippi Opera in the title of Rigoletto; San Antonio Lyric Opera for Escamillo in Carmen; Fargo Moorhead Opera for Scarpia in Tosca; Taconic Opera for Belcore in L'elisir d'amore, Il Barbiere, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, Il Conte di Luna in Il trovatore, Michele in Il tabarro, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly and Silvio in Pagliacci; Opera San Jose for Belcore, Il Barbiere, Germont, Escamillo, Ford in Falstaff, and Drosselmeir in The Tale of the Nutcracker; Nevada Opera for Escamillo; Annapolis Opera for Don Giovanni; and New York's Central Park with New York Grand Opera for a dual bill of La Bohème, as Marcello in Puccini's score and Rodolfo in Leoncavallo's version of the story.
Equally at home in contemporary works, Mr. Yiannoudes has been heard in Kurt Weill's Mahagonny-Songspiel, Virgil Thomson's Four Saints in Three Acts, and Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors. World premiere performances have included the role of Drosselmeir in Craig Bohmler's The Tale of the Nutcracker and the baritone in Roger Trefousse's Found Objects. Mr. Yiannoudes also sang the role of Marius in the New York premiere of Robert Starer's Apollonia .

On the concert stage the baritone has performed Rossini's Ermione, Fauré's Requiem, John Rutter's Mass of the Children, and the world premiere of Stephen Walters' Requiem at Carnegie Hall. He was the soloist in Puccini's Messa di Gloria with the Eugene Concert Choir, as well as in Handel's Utrecht Jubilate, Dvo?ák's Mass in D, and Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs.

For the 2005-2006 season Mr. Yiannoudes returned to Eugene Opera for the role of Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and made his debut with Sarasota Opera for the Count in Le Nozze di Figaro. He also made his debut with Fargo Moorhead Opera as Scarpia in Tosca.
For the 2006-2007 season the baritone returned to Boheme Opera of New Jersey for the title role of Rigoletto. He also returned to Eugene, Oregon, as a soloist for the Eugene Concert Choir in A Night at the Opera featuring Puccini's Messa di Gloria. He was back at Carnegie Hall as a soloist for the world premiere of Stephen Walters' Requiem.

For the 2007-2008 season Mr. Yiannoudes made his debut with Syracuse Opera as Rigoletto and returned to Carnegie Hall as a soloist for Fauré's Requiem and John Rutter's Mass of the Children. He also returned to New York Grand Opera in the role of Germont in La traviata.

Last season, Mr. Yiannoudes returned to Taconic Opera as the Count di Luna in Il trovatore and Michele in Il tabarro. He performed the title role of Rigoletto with Mississippi Opera, and Texas Lyric Opera, as well as Mendelssohn's Die erste Walpurgisnacht with the Eugene Concert Choir. He also returned to his homeland as a soloist in a "Verdi and Shakespeare" concert with the Cyprus Youth Orchestra under the direction of Agis Ioannides.

For the current season he will be singing the title role of Macbeth and the role of Don Carlo di Vargas in La forza del destino. with Taconic Opera, Olivarez in the US premiere of Doña Flor by Niccolò Van Westerhout, Brahms' Requiem with the Eugene Concert Choir and his debut recital in Limassol, Cyprus
