“Creativity takes courage”

The compass is an instrument that shows directions in reference to a single relative point. This frame of reference also defines the different creative orientations which are developed. The point of reference for this exhibition is creativity and the directions are the courses offered by the department- Fine Art, Graphic Communication and Multimedia.

The Creative Compass exhibition concentrates on the notions of exploring different paths of creativity through the different artistic disciplines offered within the department. The three programmes differ in orientation, but at the same time they all concentrate on triggering and developing creative and innovative contemporary art and design practices. The students’ work which will be exhibited presents the different layers of artistic and design processes, which are supported within the Department of Design and Multimedia. From video art and animation, to typography and sculpture, the department cultivates the students’ creative practice in various directions and diverse orientations.

The Creative Compass exhibition explores these artistic and design educational paths, as well as the notion of creativity which defines these three programmes offered at the University of Nicosia.
