Crossroads II

The non-governmental organization Culture in Action and the platform TheatrEtc are organizing Crossroads ΙΙ, a theatre camp for young people. Adolescents from the Greek and Turkish speaking communities of Cyprus are coming together for a second consecutive year.

Crossroads II theatre camp has been created for young people aged 15 to 18 years old and it is designed to promote a collaboration between the art of theatre and other various art forms practiced in Cyprus (music, dance, puppet/mask making, photography etc.). Crossroads II participants will have the opportunity to come in contact with various art forms and use them as a tool for creative expression and a deeper understanding of the Cypriot culture and tradition. Through the various workshops, participants will build a final performance-exhibition, which will be presented on the final day of the camp and will be open to the public.

Crossroads II theatre camp constitutes the continuation of Crossroads, an initiative which took place in the summer of 2010. This year, once more, the camp will be taking place at the Cultural Centre of Kaminaria village – district of Limassol, Cyprus – from Friday the 15th of July until Sunday the 24th of July 2011.

The theatre camp is an initiative of the non-governmental organization Culture in Action and the platform TheatrEtc, which have gathered a facilitation team of four professionals who are experienced in youth programs and have each contributed in their discipline towards working with young people and using the arts in programs that address social issues. The camp is being supported by Youth Activism project implemented by the Cyprus Network for Youth Development and funded by UNDP-Act and the US Embassy in Cyprus. It is also being supported by the Cyprus Centre of International Theatre Instituteand Playce café.
